About This Project

Replace teeth permanently with fixed bridgework.

Bridges are permanent, non-removable customized appliances that replace one or more missing teeth in an arch. They consist of two or more dental crowns attached together to literally bridge the gap where teeth are missing. The restoration can be made from gold, alloys or a combination of these materials and is bonded onto surrounding teeth for support. A bridge can also attach to two or more implant abutments that have been placed in the jaw under the gum tissue and allowed to heal.

Bridges entail two appointments. At the first appointment, the natural teeth in front of and behind the gap are reduced to have the bridge abutments fit over them. An impression of the prepped teeth, a model of your bite and the shade of your dentition is taken by our doctors to ensure the most natural fit and look. Temporaries are made to protect the abutment teeth during the two-week period while your bridge is being fabricated at our dental lab.

The second visit requires no anesthesia and only requires about 15 minutes to cement your new permanent bridge in place. A bridge’s success depends on its foundation. So it’s very important to keep the teeth it is attached to healthy and strong by good brushing habits, the use of floss threaders to floss under the bridge, and by maintaining regular dental check-ups. Our doctors and hygienists radiographically monitor your restorations annually to ensure your smile for a lifetime.
