Dear VB&K Patient,

We hope this letter finds you happy and healthy. We want to take a moment to remind you that our top priority is always your health, safety and well-being. As we fully reopen our practice, we do so with the same caution, highest standards and preparation for preventing the spread of infection that we always have and will continue to implement.

We are vigilant in monitoring and maintaining the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Dental Association for infection control related to COVID-19. We are confident that when we open our doors on April 27, 2020, our existing protocols go above and beyond those recommendations to keep you safe.

We are always committed to implementing safety protocol. In addition to our existing extensive measures, you should anticipate noticing the following protective efforts when you enter our dental clinic:

  • All patients answer a screening questionnaire. Appointments rescheduled if risk of patient transmission of illness, including COVID-19 has been determined.
  • Face shields will also be worn with masks and gloves by staff depending on procedure.
  • Thorough disinfection of office and waiting area. Wiping down touch screens and credit card machines after each use and regularly disinfecting bathrooms, furniture, doors and handles has always been implemented. No-touch hand sanitizer stations are also now available for staff and patient use.
  • Highest standards of disinfecting protocol in our exam rooms. Disposable plastic wrap for furniture changed between patients and all surfaces disinfected with a chemical germicide between each patient have always been common practice. Now increased ventilation has been added to remove aerosols.
  • Increased PPE for all staff who provide dental care. Gowns, face shields, and N95 masks have been added to our existing extensive protective gear.
  • Aerosol control through High Volume Evacuation (HVE) during dental procedures. We have an existing HVE Adapter which helps remove more than 90% of aerosols created during procedures. Air purifiers that completely cycle the air, three times every hour, have been added to operatories.

In addition to our efforts, we ask for your cooperation and support with the following temporary safety measures as we work through this ever-changing situation:

  • Maintain social distancing practices in our waiting room. Chairs will be six feet apart.
  • Wait in your car upon arrival (if waiting room is full) if possible. Give us a call to let us know you’ve arrived and we’ll notify you when we’re ready for you to come in.
  • Have your temperature taken.
  • Please do not bring friends or relatives who do not have a scheduled appointment if possible. Only scheduled patients will be allowed in the treatment areas. We understand if you are a caretaker or are assisting the disabled.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we all work towards maintaining the highest safety measures when you return to our practice. We promise to keep you updated through this dynamic situation. In the meantime, maintain good oral care and we look forward to making you smile soon!

Take Care and Stay Well,
Dr. J. Michael Krischke

Our Family Dentists Want to See Your Smiles

February 8, 2021
Pediatric Dentistry 1 at Van Buskirk & Krischke DDS, LLC in Crown Point, IN

More than 40 percent of kids will have at least one cavity by their 11th birthday. Broken and knocked out teeth also affect millions of kids every year.

To put this another way, there is a high likelihood that your children will benefit from restorative dental care. That’s why it’s a good idea to find a family dentist office that you trust to care for your little ones and their smiles.

We also are confident that our office can be your family’s home for dental care. To get to know us, make your next appointment at Van Buskirk & Krischke DDS in Crown Point, IN. Call 219-641-3422 today.

Be Proactive to Prevent Big Problems

Your children’s oral health is an integral part of their overall health. (The same is true for parents.) Because of these, you want to encourage them to develop healthy habits at an early age.

At home, you will want to start brushing your child’s teeth as soon as the first one erupts. At this stage, you only need a rice-sized amount of toothpaste and a child-size toothbrush.

As they get bigger, your child will want to brush their own teeth. At that point, they can use a pea-sized squeeze of toothpaste. You will want to show them to brush for two minutes at a time, being during to clean their teeth on all sides.

If you have questions about daily oral hygiene habits, we are happy to answer them for you.

When your child is ready for their first dental appointment, we welcome you to come to see us. Our doctors have more than 50 years of experience caring for patients of all ages, from toddlers and teens to young adults and seniors.

You and your little ones deserve personal attention from professionals who want your family to be as comfortable as possible.

We are more than prepared to repair tooth decay and treat dental emergencies. However, our preference is to keep you and your loved ones free from problems for as long as we can. This goes beyond basic cleanings and exams. Your children can get dental sealants, which act as a kind of shield between their teeth and harmful bacteria.

As kids get older, they will lose primary teeth and permanent teeth erupt. We will monitor changes with digital X-rays. If your children would benefit from orthodontic treatment, we can help with that, too.

In fact, we offer three treatment options:

  • Traditional braces
  • Clear ceramic braces
  • Invisalign aligners

We can help you find the rights solution for your child’s specific situation.

Saving Smiles is Our Business

We also know that the cost of oral care can be a concern. This is why we offer a number of payment options at our office. We work with many dental insurance providers. We also don’t want the cost of care to prevent you or your loved ones from having good oral health. You can finance treatment with CareCredit.

You also can save by signing up for our membership plan. This can help you receive preventive care and even emergency care if you need it.

Call 219-641-3422 or contact us online to set up an appointment at Van Buskirk & Krischke DDS in Crown Point, IN.
