Keep Your Kids Focused On Education
When your child arrives at school with a backpack full of supplies. They might be anxious about their new teacher. They also could be happy to see their friends.
When classes begin, however, you want your child to focus on the day’s lesson and on any tasks they might be assigned.
If your child is concerned about a toothache, that could be difficult. If your child skips breakfast and lunch because it hurts to eat, they might be too hungry to think about anything else.
The Children’s Dental Health Project reported on some recent studies concerning oral health and education. One study found that 1 in 7 children 6 to 12 years old reported having a toothache in the previous six months. Another study noted that kids with oral health problems were four times more likely to have low grades compared to their peers.
And the Amerian Dental Association has noted that students miss 51 million hours of instruction every year as a result of dental health problems.
Start School With A Healthy Smile
You want your children to do their best in school. You also want your kids to have healthy smiles. So, it makes sense to make dental cleanings and exams part of your back-to-school preparations.
During your visit, our dental team will do everything we can to get your loved ones’ teeth looking their best. This includes a professional cleaning to remove plaque and tartar buildup from their teeth. The longer plaque and tartar linger, the more likely anyone is to develop tooth decay. Even if your kids brush and floss every day, they probably don’t do those things perfectly every time.
The exam is just as important. In addition to our regular visual exam, we use X-rays to monitor changes to your children’s teeth. If we find any signs of cavities or decay, we want you to know as quickly as possible.
We want to start treatment now instead of fixing a tooth infection tomorrow. While no one wants a tooth filling or a dental crown, we think you would prefer either of those restorative services to a root canal.
Be Ready For Picture Day
The start of the new school year is always important. You want your kids to learn as much as they can with as few distractions as possible. You can’t control everything, but you can do something to help your kids keep their mouths healthy and pain-free.
